FROM GOATS TO GARMENT
I worked for many years, first as a scientist and then as a customer satisfaction manager. Being creative, I decided to pursue a career change and studied at the London College of Fashion, subsequently launching an online Bridal Accessories business, which today supplies some of the World’s top designers.
I have always had a passion for being around animals and decided to follow my dream of a setting up a smallholding. I have spent the last few years raising pet Mohair goats and more recently Ouessant sheep on a hillside in the beautiful countryside of North Aberdeenshire. Along the way, I have also acquired an eclectic mix of other farm animals as well as rescuing a young donkey who was going to slaughter.
To keep my cherished flock in good health, a “haircut” is needed twice a year. As the flock sizes increased, I was faced with the dilemma of what to do with the mohair, a by-product from my “woolly family.” I decided to channel my passion for my animals and the environment into creating luxurious natural faux fur clothing by weaving the cleaned and processed wool onto a cotton backing to produce a 100% Natural faux fur fabric.
